October Wrap Up

Friend Pam on the left
Me the right.
The end of October has come! The end of the month obviously bringing Halloween! I was a Zombie Hunter with my neighbours and sisters, I sort of look like a female version of Daryl Dixon. What were you all for Halloween? Any bookish costumes?
While on the topic of Halloween, I'm sorry about not having a Halloween post this year, I've been very busy school wise and packing for YALLFest! School has been mentally draining lately.
YALLFest is next week and I am dying of excitement, I almost have all the books I need ready to go. (*cough* 16) Now all I need to do is pack my clothes and finalize my schedule. If you're going to YALLFest send me your schedule and I'll get back to you with mine! I will also be at the blogger meet up on the 7th, let me know if you are too!
Funny story, when I first told my Spanish teacher about not being at school for YALLFest most of my class overheard. So now I swear they are more excited about me going to YALLFest then I am, and believe me I'm excited! They also call me YALLFest now, along with asking me daily how much longer till YALLFest. Suffice to say my Spanish class is crazy.
With YALLFest so close I finally pushed myself to read the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. My goodness, I just don't have any words to describe that series. A review will definitely be up soon for Lux Beginnings.
Finally I got my second book request in the mail the other day, I got Eternal by C.C Hunter from St. Martin's Press. So expect a review for that up soon as well!

That's all for this month! Now for my bookish stats!

(P.S If I owe you a review for your book, or a review in general I will have those done soon! I was just trying to get as many books read for YALLFest that I could. Sorry about that!)

Waiting on Wednesday (15)

The Retribution of Mara Dyer

Author: Michelle Hodkin
Mara Dyer #3
Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers
Expected: November 4th, 2014

Description from GoodReads:

Mara Dyer wants to believe there's more to the lies she’s been told.
There is.

She doesn’t stop to think about where her quest for the truth might lead.
She should.

She never had to imagine how far she would go for vengeance.
She will now.

Loyalties are betrayed, guilt and innocence tangle, and fate and chance collide in this shocking conclusion to Mara Dyer’s story.
Retribution has arrived.

Why I Want It:

To be honest, this series creeps me out. Things are said, things are done, eerie things. Yet, this series continues to draw me back in for more. I just don't know what it is, but I just have to finish it now.

Why You Should Want It:

It feels real, when you're reading the story you just want to believe something supernatural exists, and yet you feel deep inside that you just know something is mentally wrong with her. For peat sake we don't even know what her real name is! This book will be like nothing you have ever experienced before, you just have to trust me on it.

That's my Waiting on Wednesday for this week, will you be picking up The Retribution of Mara Dyer? What are you waiting on this week? Let me know in the comments!

Ohana Book Theories: The Heir by Kiera Cass

As most of you know, this week the cover for The Heir was announced, along with the description and the twin's names. After my sister and I read the description, we immediately started blabbering about what we think is going to happen in the book. Thus, Ohana Book Theories was born. So today I have for you, my theories for The Heir by Kiera Cass!

The Heir

Author: Kiera Cass
The Selection #4
Harlequin Teen
Expected: May 5th, 2015

Description from GoodReads:

Twenty years ago, America Singer entered the Selection and won Prince Maxon’s heart. Now the time has come for Princess Eadlyn to hold a Selection of her own. Eadlyn doesn’t expect her Selection to be anything like her parents’ fairy-tale love story. But as the competition begins, she may discover that finding her own happily ever after isn’t as impossible as she always thought.

The Theories:

First of all Kiera Cass announced Eadlyn's twin brother's name on her website, just in case you guys get confused to who I am mentioning. His name is Ahren.
First theory, I feel like Eadlyn will have Maxon's personality and Ahren will have America's. Wouldn't that be the cutest? A calm Eadlyn and a goofy Ahren.
Second theory, Ahren will be gay and will fall for one of Eadlyn's selected. I really want to see this one happen, my sister and I both agree on this one.
Third, Tugging of the ear will have become a family thing. So I imagine Eadlyn and Ahren constantly 'tugging their ears' to each other when they want to get out of something.
Fourth and finally my last theory, If you read the second epilogue of The One, you'd know that Marlee and Carter had a little one year old named Kile. Kile is supposed to be a year old when America is 2-3 months pregnant already. So my theory is that Kile will be apart of the Selection! I also feel like he will be Eadlyn's best friend, along with Ahren.

Those are my theories for The Heir! What are yours? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter! Also, will you be picking up the Heir when it comes out?

Waiting on Wednesday (14)

Compulsion

Author: Martina Boone
The Heirs of Watson Island
Expected: October 28th, 2014

Description from GoodReads:

Three plantations. Two wishes. One ancient curse.

All her life, Barrie Watson has been a virtual prisoner in the house where she lives with her shut-in mother. When her mother dies, Barrie promises to put some mileage on her stiletto heels. But she finds a new kind of prison at her aunt’s South Carolina plantation instead--a prison guarded by an ancient spirit who long ago cursed one of the three founding families of Watson Island and gave the others magical gifts that became compulsions.

Stuck with the ghosts of a generations-old feud and hunted by forces she cannot see, Barrie must find a way to break free of the family legacy. With the help of sun-kissed Eight Beaufort, who knows what Barrie wants before she knows herself, the last Watson heir starts to unravel her family's twisted secrets. What she finds is dangerous: a love she never expected, a river that turns to fire at midnight, a gorgeous cousin who isn’t what she seems, and very real enemies who want both Eight and Barrie dead.

Why I Want It:

Compulsion was one of those books that you've heard so much about from blogger friends. All I've heard is great things, which of course makes me want it even more. Then there's also the fact that I get to meet Martina the day after YALLFest. Either way, after all the intense fangirling and the chance at meeting a author, I'm also excited because of the summery. Ghosts and curses are two of my favourite things.

Why You Should Want It:

Don't want it after what I said above? Check out all the reviews for Compulsion on GoodReads!

That's my Waiting on Wednesday for this week, what are you waiting on? Will you be picking up Compulsion on October 28th? Let me know in the comments!

Movie Review: Vampire Academy

Vampire Academy

Contains Spoilers:

Movie:

Film Corporation: The Weinstein Company
Released to Theatres: February 7th, 2014
Audience Rating: PG13
Length of Time: 104 minutes
Director: Mark Waters

Book:

Title: Vampire Academy
Author: Richelle Mead
Publisher: Razorbill
Release Date: August 16th, 2007
Format: Paperback, 332 pages

Movie Review:

After watching the trailer for Vampire Academy I had thought that this would be one bad ass movie. Of course, first impressions aren't always right.
I've never really been a fan of Dimitri, I always pictured him as a late 30 year old trying to date a 17 year old. Besides that, I still had high hopes for the actor choice. So of course, he was the only character that I didn't like the actor for. Zoey Deutch was absolutely the perfect choice. Zoey had the right look from the start, nothing was added or changed to make her look more like the character. There's also the fact that she played the perfect Rose! Lucy Fry  was another wonderful choice, same goes with Dominic Sherwood and Sami Gayle.
Vampire Academy was paced furiously fast. It was infuriating. An example was when Rose was having a make out session with Jesse, they were making out for exactly 4 seconds before Dimitri came in and the scene changed. It's almost impossible to describe how fast it is with out watching the movie.
The movie felt like it had scenes from different books in the series. I guess that's one way of the movie feeling like it was going too fast as well. So many unnecessary parts were added to this movie, if they wanted to make the movie longer then they should have slowed the pace of the important scenes.
This movie could have done so much better. I was very disappointed with the final result and I feel/know we won't be seeing a sequel sometime in the future.

Overall Rating:

Favourite Scene:

My favourite scenes would have to be when Rose gets pulled into Lissa's head. I feel like they did it perfectly.

Favourite Quote:

"Better to beg forgiveness than ask permission."~ Dimitri

Recommend to People Who Enjoy:
